About This Workshop

Workshop 2: Photogrammetry + LiDAR: Ed Triplett, Assistant Professor of the Practice at Duke University, teaches Photogrammetry and demonstrates LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) to create virtual environments for immersive experience design.

Throughout the Spring and Summer of 2025, we're hosting a series of educational workshops at American Underground @ Main, open to participants of all skill levels.

These workshops cover key aspects of creating immersive digital experiences, and are led by a distinguished group of instructors, including experts from Duke university, game developers, and industry professionals.

The workshops culminate in a festival-style showcase of the work created by workshop participants. In early October 2025, participant work will be projected onto the exterior of the Carolina Theatre and placed in Augmented Reality in the plaza nearby.

This public showcase transforms an iconic downtown Durham space into a canvas of light, bringing the digital dreams of our participants to life.

"Rooftops and Alleyways: Digital Daydream" consists of 9 workshops that all teach facets of immersive experience design and culminate in a festival-style showcase of participant work.

As a participant of the workshops, you'll get to see your newfound skills applied to the activation of the Carolina Theatre in Downtown Durham, via projection mapping onto the front exterior face of the theatre and augmented reality placed in the nearby plaza.
